Ich weiß, hier sind die Beiträge sehr rar geworden. Momentan bin ich eher auf Twitter unterwegs. Und zeitweise auch auf meinem Zweit- und Blödsinnsblog.

Im beruflichen Bereich zeichnet sich das vorzeitige Ende des Projektes ab, wieder mal. Ich weiß noch nicht, was der Arbeitgeber in petto hat, aber wenn es wieder etwas Neues gibt, werde ich natürlich berichten.

Auch war mir nicht bewusst, dass Du zwischenzeitlich Deinen Namen hast ändern lassen. Nennst Du Dich im Brief doch Raymond Christopher. Leidest Du etwa unter einer gespaltenen Persönlichkeit? Was mich auch verwundert: seit wann ruft man E-Mailadressen an? Hast Du etwa da einen intelligenten Anrufbeantworter sitzen? Nun, alles, was den IQ einer schimmeligen Banane übersteigt ist wahrscheinlich eh schon intelligenter als Du. Aber sei es drum.

Dann die finanzielle Seite: Du hast das Geld heimlich bei der Schweizer Bank investiert. Nur: welcher genau? This Chinese restaurant is located in 911 plaza, Maitama. You can reach it when you come from the British Council roundabout direction Hilton and at the junction you turn left. Then take the next road on your right side and you will reach the place immediately to your left. Kilimandjaro is located in the same complex.

The restaurant is equipped nicely, we went there on valentine's day and there was a life singer there. Unfortunately the staff was not really prepared for all the guest visiting.

This resulted in a kind of push-out-ordering without sufficient time to enjoy the meal. Something like this should be organised in a better way, especially when you order a "dinner for two" and pay almost 35.000 Naira for it.

The food was ok, spicy chicken, spicy noodles, non-spicy beef. I don't like fish, so I don't know how the shrimps were. Steamed rice came with it, the appetizer was either Peking soup or chicken with sweet corn soup and 4 spring rolls. As dessert there was either ice cream or fruit salad (some pieces of pineapple ad water melon). The food came with two glasses of champagne and one large bottle of water.

Now the "but"s: it took us five times until we got the complimentary bottle of water. A colleague of mine who sat next to us had to order his beer also 3 times until it arrived.
Then there was confusion about the starters, so in case of my colleague they got 6 spring rolls, but 2 were taken away from them by picking them with fingers, as the mistake was realised.
Even before we got our dessert, the bill was already ready as new customers were waiting for our table.
And regarding to what my colleague said the shrimps were not too nice, rather soft and tasteless.

So for the money spent compared to the service offered: not necessarily a place to go again to.

Echt jetzt. Nach den ganzen Blödeleien der letzten Monate ist mir beim Kommentieren in einem anderen Blog ein Link ans Herz gelegt worden. Warnung! Man muss erstens des Englischen mächtig sein und zweitens gut 80 Minuten Zeit aufwenden können.

Aber dieser Link zeigt mir mal wieder, dass, überraschenderweise, auch in den Vereinigten Staaten Menschen leben, die sich Gedanken über die Zukunft machen und nicht komplett patriotisiert sind. Und bestätigt mich bei meiner eigenen Urteilsfindung, die ebenso mathematisch begründet ist.

Mir war und ist es schon lange suspekt, dass die Wirtschaft nur funktioniert, wenn es Wachstum gibt. Ein Satz, den man dauernd eingetrichtert bekommt. Umsatzsteigerung. Auch hier, in der echten Pathologie, wird Umsatzsteigerung angestrebt. Mehr verdienen als letztes Jahr, mehr Umsatz machen. Nur nicht ein Nullwachstum durchmachen. Mit der entsprechenden Konsequenz für die Mitarbeiter: mehr Arbeit bei fast gleichem Lohn. Nur: irgendwann sind die Kapazitäten der Mitarbeiter erschöpft, da bringt auch eine Lohnerhöhung nichts mehr. Und wenn ich ins produzierende Gewerbe schaue: da sind es die Kapazitätsgrenzen der Maschinen. Neue Maschinen, die mehr produzieren zum gleichen Preis? Schön und gut, aber wer soll diese Mehrproduktion kaufen? Und wie hält man den Preis, wenn man über Bedarf produziert?

Ich bin ja der Meinung, eine Firma sollte anstreben, lediglich für jeden Menschen in ihrem Einzugsbereich ein Produkt, dafür aber nachhaltig und langlebig, zu produzieren. Das ist in gewisser Weise eine Planwirtschaft, ja, aber auch sinnvoll. Diese ganze Geschichte mit geplanter Obszoleszenz etwa ist eine riesige Ressourcenverschwendung. Oder auch das vom Marketing aufoktroierte: ih, sie haben da ja noch ein altes Modell vom letzten Jahr... Klar ist es toll, mit dem neuesten Automodell durch die Gegend zu kurven. Aber ist es wirklich so, dass man sich nach drei oder fünf Jahren daran sattgesehen hat? Oder wird einem das nicht eher durch die Werbung eingeimpft? Immerhin, es gibt viele „Ewiggestrige“, die sich in Sachen Auto etwa einen Oldtimer halten, die einen als Sammler, die anderen aus rein finanziellen Gründen, da ihnen das Geld zum Neuwagenkauf fehlt.

Nicht nur das Auto, auch das Mobiltelefon, Schuhe, Kleidung, Brillen, Frisuren: alles wird einer Mode, einem Trend unterworfen. Wer „in“ sein will, muss diese Trends mitmachen. Bewährtes wegwerfen (oder irgendwo aufheben) und Neues kaufen. Umsatz, das ist, was zählt. Und damit verbunden der Verbrauch an Ressourcen. Mit Schrecken denke ich daran, was auf uns zu kommen wird. All die neuen Technologien beispielsweise für die Energieerzeugung, wenn einmal das letzte Öl, die letzte Kohle in einem Kraftwerk verheizt wurde: Windräder und Wasserturbinen, deren Lagerstellen geschmiert werden müssen. Doch womit? Photovoltaik, für deren Herstellung Erdöl und Energie benötigt werden. Und dann die Gerätschaften, die das Leben leichter machen, aber von Energie abhängig sind: Wasserwerke beispielsweise. Denn wieviele Menschen können sich einen eigenen Brunnen leisten, und wenn, wie pumpen sie das Wasser nach oben ins Haus, in die Wohnung?

In Zukunft werden sich die Prioritäten für Reichtum verschieben. Heutzutage ist reich, wer sich diverse Urlaube, schicke Autos und große Häuser leisten kann. In Zukunft ist jemand reich, der sich eine geheizte Behausung und fließend Wasser leisten kann. Die Menschheit wird nicht mehr, wie von der Bundesregierung propagiert, mobil den Arbeitsstellen hinterherreisen, die Menschheit wird wieder sehr stationär werden. Reisen über Land? Ich denke, die Postkutschen werden wiederkommen und Pferdefuhrwerke. Altes Wissen wird wieder gefragt sein, manuelle Tätigkeiten wie Schuhmacher und Schneider eine Renaissance erleben. Und aus diesen Gründen finde ich es gar nicht mal so schlimm, wenn ich die Schlagzeilen lese, die besagen, dass die Deutschen aussterben werden. Denn irgendwie muss man ja den Markt bedienen können, der sich da bilden wird. Und das geht nur, wenn weniger Menschen da sind.

Ich sollte öfter mal in meine ruhenden Mailaccounts blicken, denn dort schlummern wahre Gemmen vor sich hin. Wie beispielsweise diese Mail, die darauf abzielt, mich auf eine unseriöse Website zu locken:

Mal abgesehen davon, dass ich mit der Sparkasse keinerlei Beziehungen pflege, finde ich, dass der Entwickler der Übersetzungsseite da auch bessere Arbeit hätte abliefern können. Solch ein stockendes Geschwurbel lässt sich leider nicht flüssig lesen und den Leser auch aufmerksam werden. Und schon ist der Traum vom schnellen Geld ausgeträumt.

On January first, 2012, over here in Nigeria the subsidy for petrol was canceled due to the fact that there was no money for it in the budget. So now the fuel price went up from NGN 65 to NGN 138 and more. This is an increase of 112%, not bad, isn't it?

Strange enough is also the fact that Nigeria, as one of the bigger deployers of crude oil, has almost no functional refinery inside the country. All existing refineries are out of service due to lack of maintenance. Or maybe even due to politics. Because responsible for the import of fuel are relatives of the former president. And I bet they will take any effort to keep their business running instead of having the fuel produced in the own country.

On the other hand it is also interesting that a country that produces an average of 2 million barrels of crude oil a day has no money in their state's budget. I am asking myself where the oil money goes to then? At an average price of 100 US-Dollars per barrel Nigeria earns 200 million dollars a day, which is 6 billion dollars a month or 72 billion dollars a year. Even more when you consider the oil production to be above 2 million barrels a day.

But back to the topic. Due to the way of increasding fuel prices by over 100% from this Monday on people will go on strike to force the government to reduce prices again.

From my perspective it would have been more wise to increase the prices bit by bit, as already by April 2011 the president announced to kill the subsidy. Time was there enough, only the brain was missing.

Last week I went to Calabar for a crucial meeting. In the end it turned out that half of the attendees did not have a clue what we were talking about.

But anyway, at least the hotel was ok. And I am adding here one more picture to the anthology of "Room with a view" which had been started by Frau Klugscheißer.

The rain has stopped now for over two weeks. "Dry season", says my wife. So we are expecting harmattan to start soon to bring down the temperatures.

While it was raining, daily temperatures reached 26 to 28 centigrades. Now daily temperatures are around 35 centigrades. In November, northern hemisphere.

Yesterday it was announced in the newspapers that from yesterday on for the next seven days five gas-fired power stations will be shut down due to maintenance on the gas supply pipelines. Results will be load shedding and temporary power supply disruptions all over the country.

In fact, power is almost not available all over the country, as the remaining power stations cannot cope with the load.

As a thinking person using my brain I am asking myself why the maintenance on the gas supply pipelines cannot be carried out one by one power station, keeping the remaining 4 power stations up and running? And how many experienced personnel is available to execute this maintenance in parallell?

Anyway, these questions nobody is asking, as the news directly came from the upper ranks of government.

Instead rumours are being heard that exactly this upper clique rather would prefer to sell the gas abroad for seven days than powering up the own country. Of course there is a lot of money involved which will end up in the pockets of only a few people. Therefore the people can suffer.

Nigeria, when will you ever change?
